Best League of Legends Regions: Strongest to Weakest
Posted: 07 May 2025
The Season 1 World Championship featured only teams from EU and NA and Fnatic won it after an all-EU final.
Their triumph gave birth to an ageless rivalry between the EU and NA servers about which one is the best LoL region.
While it continues to this day, the truth is that neither of them even comes close.
Since all other regions got involved in the international tournaments in 2012, we haven't seen a non-Asian champion.
After 13 years of competitive play, which is the best LoL region?

Ranking the 8 regions that will have at least one team at Worlds 2024
Korea

The T1 team poses with the 2023 World Championship trophy.
Ever since 2013, the Korean server has been battling the Chinese region for supremacy.
When it comes to the choice of the best LoL region, opinions vary and there are solid arguments in favor of both sides.
Nevertheless, statistically, Korean teams have won eight World Championships next to China's three.
SK Telecom T1 won in 2013, 2015, and 2016, with Samsung White and Samsung Galaxy snatching the 2014 and 2017 titles.
Dplus KIA won the 2020 World Title, then finished 2nd in 2021.
DRX won the world title in 2022, with T1 being the runner-up.
In 2023, T1 decimated China's Weibo Gaming with 3:0 in the final, winning their 4th world title.
China

Edward Gaming with their 2021 Worlds trophy.
Depending on how you approach this question, China may easily topple the rankings as the best LoL region.
Chinese teams have won three world titles and for a short period (2018-2020), the region appeared to have solved the Korean puzzle.
Moreover, China has dominated the majority of the smaller international tournaments like MSI throughout the years.
EU (EMEA)

G2 eSports with their 2019 MSI trophy.
The European scene went through multiple transitions in the last six years.
After the latest stage in its evolution, it now involves teams from Turkey, CIS, the Middle East, and Africa.
While this brought diversity to the competitive scene, it will hardly improve the overall performance at Worlds.
If we exclude Fnatic's Season 1 triumph, European teams have reached the final twice since then (Fnatic in 2018 and G2 in 2019).
But when will we see a World Champion from the EU or NA servers? Maybe this year? Or never?
NA

Team Liquid at MSI 2019 Finals.
Would you place the North American region higher than the European scene? Even if you do, the stats paint a different picture. Yes, the H2H win rate between the EU and NA regions may be close.
But if we had to pick a team to perform against a Chinese or Korean team, we wouldn’t pick one from North America.
Overall, NA teams have managed to secure one Bronze medal at Worlds in 13 appearances and one 4th place in 2018.
But since the Season 1 World Championship only had teams from the EU & NA, so does the first one even count?
Unfortunately, the LCS continues to produce one-season wonders at the domestic level but not a single team that can impress on the world stage.
For these reasons, we have to place NA around the middle of the list and far behind the best LoL region.
APAC

The Taipei Assassins lift the Season 2 World Championship trophy.
This collective region includes all servers and the respective teams from the Asia-Pacific. Until a few years ago, most regions had their separate tournaments.
In 2024, the Pacific Championship Series includes the best teams from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, Oceania, Japan, and the Philippines.
Numerous teams from these servers have made it to Worlds but only one roster etched its name in the history books.
The Taipei Assassins from Taiwan won the Season 2 World Championship in 2012.
Judging by the recent performances of teams from this region, it will be a while before any other side comes close to that achievement.
Vietnam

GAM eSports at MSI 2024.
The competitive level of the Vietnamese league has risen and fallen over the years and right now, it seems to be advancing again.
Back in 2012, the Saigon Jokers managed to finish 10th at Worlds 2012.
However, there were only 12 teams at the Season 2 World Championship. The 9th place of GAM Esports in 2017 is a more impressive achievement as they managed to do it in a competition with the 24 best teams in the world.
Brazil

LOUD at CBLOL 2024 lifting the trophy.
The BR region has had its professional esports league since 2014 but few teams have managed to make an impact on the international stage.
Each season, the winner of the CBLOL Split 2 earns an invitation to Worlds. After ten years, the highest finishing position of a Brazilian team was 12th in 2015.
Latin America

Isurus at the 2019 World Championship.
In the last place on our list, we have the LAT region. Depending on the year, six to seven teams battle in the Liga Latinoamerica for the title and an invitation to Worlds. After five appearances, the highest achievement by a LAT team was the 19th place at Worlds 2019.

Keep in mind that this list does not feature most of the small servers as their elite teams are part of the collective competitions of the top regions.
Our ranking system includes only the regions that will get an invitation for Worlds 2024.
And after observing and analyzing the performances of the best teams from each region so far in 2024, it seems that Korea's reign as the best LoL region will continue for at least an extra year.
