Posted: 07 May 2025

Hello everyone! Today, we are going to speak of the best split push champions of the 2024 season with statistics and the best builds for those champions.

But it doesn't end there! We will talk about how split push works, the way those champions are executed with the split pushing strategy, and way more, let’s begin!

Turbosmurfs-CTA-LoL.png

The Split Push Technique

Now for beginners, the split push is as the name says so; you split from your team and you push push push! Yet as everything in League of Legends is, things are way more complicated than they look. Let's proceed with.

Why Split Push?

Not every champion in LoL is created to team fight and contest objectives, many champions are designed to clear waves and force plays 1v1 on side lanes. And champions of that category, split pushing is by far the best option to take.

  • As your champion has low value in team fights, pulling opponents and preventing them from team fighting has a higher value
  • Because of the 1v1 design of many champions, forcing side lane pressure causes enemies to get outnumbered in exchange for facing you as 2. Leaving them 3V4 on elsewhere.

When to Split Push?

There are times to split push and there are times to stay behind and slow push, unless you decide wisely, you might end up getting caught for no reason and without taking any extra resources.

  • When there is an objective spawn nearby, going for a split push on the opposite side has the highest value as long as your champion is capable of 1v1 any opponent or is a really fast wave clear/ turret destroyer.

How to Split Push

This is quite a complicated topic, yet if we are to speak of it in a really simple way, here’s how it goes:

  • Do not engage in group plays, almost at all.
  • Play on one side of the map (Mid Lane doesn't work)
  • Push the wave, see enemies still fighting elsewhere: go for the turret.
  • Push the wave, see the enemies are going for you: go elsewhere.

This is it, this is the technique. You need to know a lot to master, but this is the easiest way of explaining how to split push.

Best Split Pushing Bruisers of 2024

Camille

Camille_31.jpg

Advantages

  • Great scaling in every way.
  • Able to 1v1 almost anyone as long as played perfectly.
  • Decent lane phase, the strongest weakside champion.
  • Great escape skills.
  • Good at team fights and split pushing both.
  • Easy to understand mechanics, not overcomplicated after 20 games you can master every detail of her.

Disadvantages

  • Has long cooldowns in the early phase.
  • A really weak wave clear in the early stages of the game.
  • Skills like Lee Sin R, Kindred R and Janna Q&R counter her completely, making split pushing the only viable option for the champion.

How to Use

  • Scale up, play slow with trades with your cooldowns up.
  • Check the opponents, the chances are that you are not going to be the best at team fighting, if you are stronger than enemy laners;head to the side and start creating pressure!

Fiora

Pulsefire Fiora.jpg

Advantages

  • One of the best duelists in the game.
  • Strong counterplay capability, hard to win any 1v1 against her.
  • Great turret damage.
  • Low cooldowns except for W.

Disadvantages

  • Gets kited easily when there is more than 1 opponent.
  • Skills are difficult to get used to and hard to use perfectly.
  • Too mechanical, and requires skill and good reflexes.

How to Use

Fiora doesn't team fight, almost at all. The best you can do with her is to split push and try to divide the enemy team; if they are coming to you as more than 2 make sure to fall back. She is mobile and has good base movement speed therefore escaping opponents is not too big of a struggle.

Runes, Build and Skill Priority

Yorick

Yorick.jpg

Advantages

  • One of the best turret destroyers in the game.
  • Outstanding 1v1 potential after certain item spikes.
  • Able to poke and get lain priority in many matchups, unlike other split pushers.

Disadvantages

  • Needs time to scale.
  • Gets kited really easily unless he buys Serylda’s Grudge.
  • Really low mobility, and gets easily chased down if he out positions.

How to Use

With Yorick, there is no in-between gameplay. If you are going for the turret, then you are taking it down or dying while trying.

Because the champion has no dash or any other type of escape skill, it requires better decision-making. Every move you make has results, and it cant be undone while playing Yorick.

Runes, Build and Skill Priority

Trundle

dragon slayer.jpg

Advantages

  • Can take down turrets in 10 seconds if left alone.
  • Has great movement speed and chase potential.
  • Its base stats cause him to be a problem, starting from level 1.

Disadvantages

  • Really weak against crowd control.
  • Can't team fight at all unless the enemy has a tank that he can R to.
  • Low survivability, can't dash away and jump around unlike Camille and Fiora.

How to Use

Well, the troll is quite straightforward, you see an enemy: Go in. You see a turret: Destroy.

Its not complicated yet he is difficult to have a good KDA with, as you will often find yourself going for trading kills or dying in exchange for destroying turrets.

Runes, Build and Skill Priority

Tryndamare

Tryndamere.jpg

Advantages

  • High mobility, can dash around after 2 auto attacks once reaches 2 items.
  • Goes great with the current meta, as the critical strike items are strong.
  • Has an ‘’Undying’’ ultimate which grants him the opportunity to go for enemies with shutdowns without fearing getting one-shot.

Disadvantages

  • Heavily depends on items to get strong.
  • Weak against slows.
  • Lower damage to turrets compared to other split pushers.
  • Easily gets countered by knock-ups.

How to Use

Push, see the enemies disengagers, and fall back if they are coming towards you.

Make sure to use your R as late as you can and try to avoid opponents with higher mobility than yours.

Try team fighting after enemies use their CC abilities, as Tryndamare goes well with split pushing into going for a grouped team fight once opponents are separated.

Runes, Build and Skill Priority

Jax

jax god staff.webp

Advantages

  • Best champion against auto-attackers.
  • Scales really well without being ‘’too weak’’ in the early stages.
  • Good at duels with decent mobility.
  • Has great sustain compared to other split pushers.

Disadvantages

  • Weak against abilities and champions that outrange his Q.
  • Lower damage to turrets compared to other champions in the list.
  • Doesn't synchronize too well with the current meta items.

How to Use

Push the wave, check who is facing you, engage them, or go to the other side of the map for an outnumbered team fight.

Jax has great sustain which can be used in team fights as well as split pushing, monitoring that and taking advantage is what differs a good Jax and a bad Jax player.

Best Split Pushing Tanks of 2024

Nasus

Nasus.jpg

Advantages

  • Unlimited scaling potential with his Q.
  • Strongest slow skill in the game (W).
  • Turret destroyer, after 300 stacks on his Q can't be left alone.

Disadvantages

  • Takes too long to scale.
  • Easily gets dove and falls too behind in the early stages if the enemy plays on the top side.
  • Hard to keep track of the spike points, often unknown if you are going to win the combat until it ends.
  • Easily gets kited when there is more than 1 enemy in combat with him.
  • Lacks mobility and survivability.

How to Use

Nasus has the simplest design, just scale up and start taking down the turrets.

Don't try to engage in any fight above 3v3s with him. He has an amazing slow, take advantage of that and chase down enemies in 1v1s once you are strong enough with a decent amount of Q stacks.

Runes, Build and Skill Priority

Sion

Sion High Noon.webp

Advantages

  • Really difficult to fall behind with, even if you get killed.
  • High base stats, causing him to deal damage as a tank.
  • Has kill potential in lane if played accurately.
  • Infinite scaling with his W passive.

Disadvantages

  • Gets kited too easily.
  • Hard to manage Q and R mechanic.
  • Almost impossible to not die in lane with.
  • Doesnt have escape skill except his R.

How to Use

While playing sion, you have 2 options; Go for the turret/wave, take it and die in exchange.

Or dont do that and simplfy have no use in the game. What you should do is quite clear, if there is a wave that you can take or a turret; in exchange of your life, go for it!

Best Split Pushing Mid Hyper Carries of 2024

Kassadin

Kassadin Dragonmancer.webp

Advantages

  • Best scaling mage in the game.
  • Outstanding damage.
  • High mobility starting from level 6.
  • Hard to catch and easy to chase as.

Disadvantages

  • Falls off really easily until level 6.
  • Needs to be at least level 11 before he has any value.
  • Gets countered by CC.
  • Requires skill, in tiers above Emerald.

How to Use

As a mid-lane Kassadin, your task is quite clear: Scale as much as you can, and get your items and experience.

If your team is not doing really well, going for a split push is the optimal decision to take. Outnumber your opponents at an unexpected team fight if they are trying to collapse on you.

Runes, Build and Skill Priority

kassadin runes-build-skills.png

Tristana

Tristana Omega Squad.webp

Advantages

  • Early DPS and turret damage.
  • Capability to chase down and escape through difficult scenarios.
  • Ranged, unlike any split pusher we have mentioned throughout this series.

Disadvantages

  • Absolutely no sustain, if caught; she dies.
  • Relies on items and having a decent amount of gold to be able to win 1v1s.
  • Can't walk up to places without vision.
  • Can't face melee duelists that we have spoken of above.

How to Use

Take advantage of opponents forcing a team fight by simply crashing a wave onto the enemy turret at a side lane, and simply destroy it in a matter of seconds unless enemies arrive to try to stop you.

If they do, make sure to instantly rotate towards your team to engage in an outnumbering team fight.

Runes, Build and Skill Priority

Ziggs

Ziggs Hextech.webp

Advantages

  • Great at team fights as well as split pushing.
  • Can be played as Mid Laner and Bot Laner.
  • The only champion with turret execution skill.

Disadvantages

  • Gets one shot.
  • Immobile, not optimal to split with against a duelist.
  • Gets caught too easily.

How to Use

Push the wave and don't go for a turret unless you see opponents, Ziggs is only viable in side lanes once he is left alone.

Pay attention and go for team fights instead if you are not having the results you want through split pushing.

Runes, Build and Skill Priority

ziggs runes-build-skills.png

Twisted Fate

Twisted Fate Odyssey.webp

Advantages

  • Can teleport with ease if his R is up.
  • Heavy burst damage.
  • High movement speed.
  • Scales really well.

Disadvantages

  • Low wave clear in the early phases of the game.
  • Hard to play against champions with slow and CC.
  • Cant 1v1, almost any champion.

How to Use

Twisted Fate, similar to the other mages in our list, is capable to team fight and split-push both.

For him, going to the side to pull an opponent then forcing a 5v4 in mid-lane with his ultimate is the best option to take.

Yet keep in mind, he does great damage to turrets, therefore baiting enemies into grouping for the destruction of a turret or two is always a viable option!

Characteristics of Split Push Champions

You may wonder, how can I know if a champion is capable of split push? There are clear indicators that all the champions stated above and more have in common which are these:

  • All split pushers deal great damage to turrets.
  • All split pushers are either capable of winning many 1v1 combats or have an impact elsewhere after pushing into the enemy territory.

Conclusion

Split pushing is a difficult technique, with many people from the community being against it.

Make sure to check out the latest updates in League of Legends to ensure what your strategy is worth and don't forget, the best split pusher is the one that destroys the nexus on its own!
