Seer Apex Legends Guide: Abilities, Stats and How to Play

Posted: 21 Jul 2026

Seer is the legend for players who win fights before they start. He's a recon legend built entirely around information: he hears enemy heartbeats, scans through walls, and locks down areas so nobody sneaks up on you. He's tricky to play well, but in the right hands he gives your squad an edge that's hard to match.

There's also good timing to this guide. Seer is getting a buff in the Season 29 Split 2 patch, which lands June 22, 2026, aimed squarely at his biggest weaknesses. We'll cover what's changing and how to make the most of it.

Here's everything you need to know about his kit, his stats, his upgrades, and how to actually play him. This is written for Season 29, Overclocked, which runs from early May to early August 2026.

Who is Seer?

Seer's real name is Obi Edolasim, and he's a 27-year-old artist and performer from the moon Boreas. He was born under what his people saw as a bad omen, a meteor hit Boreas the night he was born, and he grew up branded a cursed child. He found his place in the underground Arenas fighting circuit, where he became a star and an icon for outcasts. In the Apex Games he goes by the Ambush Artist.

He's also one of the most controversial legends in Apex history. Seer has been strong, dominant, and repeatedly nerfed over the years, to the point where his name alone gets a reaction from longtime players. He joined the game back in Season 10.

Seer's class

Seer is a Recon legend. That gives him two standard perks. He can scan Survey Beacons to reveal nearby enemies on the minimap, and he gets threat vision, which highlights enemies, while he's aiming down sights. Both of these stack nicely with his own information kit, since Seer is all about knowing where the enemy is.

Seer's abilities

Here's his full kit and the numbers that matter.

Passive: Heart Seeker

This is what makes Seer special. Whenever you aim down sights, even with no weapon equipped, Seer senses enemy heartbeats in a 75-meter cone in front of him. A ring around your crosshair pulses and points you toward any enemy in range, and it works straight through walls.

There's a neat detail here: the heartbeat speeds up as an enemy's health drops, so you can actually hear how hurt someone is. At full health a heart beats about once every 1.75 seconds. Shields don't matter, only health. Past 75 meters the marker turns blue and only shows enemies you can actually see.

A couple of limits to know. It can't sense enemies hidden behind Catalyst's Dark Veil, and it reads Mirage decoys as real players, so a clever Mirage can fool it.

The Split 2 buff makes this passive activate faster and pulse more often, so you get information quicker.

Tactical: Focus of Attention

This is your information-and-disruption tool, on a 20-second cooldown. You send out micro-drones that hit everyone inside a long, narrow zone in front of you, 75 meters long and 8 meters wide, after a short delay.

Enemies caught in it get revealed with health bars for your whole squad, get silenced for 2.5 seconds, and get briefly slowed. That silence is the key part. It cancels enemy abilities and, more importantly, interrupts heals, batteries, and revives in progress. You can also hold the button to delay the launch, which slows you a little and turns on Heart Seeker while you wait.

One thing it can't do: it won't interrupt a revive being channeled by Lifeline's healing drone. And like the passive, it'll scan Mirage decoys and create fake health bars.

The Split 2 buff shortens the delay before it hits, which makes it easier to land, and adds a stronger slow that actually catches fast movement abilities like Axle's slide and Ash's dash. That's a big deal, because mobile enemies used to just dodge it.

Ultimate: Exhibit

Exhibit takes about three minutes to charge. You throw it out, and it creates a large dome, around 38 meters across. Inside that dome, any enemy who walks, sprints, or shoots gets revealed to your team, with footstep trails and markers. Your HUD even shows how many enemies are inside.

Here's the catch you have to remember: it does not reveal enemies who are standing still, crouching, or in the air. So a smart enemy can crouch-walk through it to stay hidden. The dome lasts 25 seconds, and the device at its center has 125 HP and can be shot down, so don't leave it in the open.

The Split 2 buff adds an instant scan the moment the dome appears, so you immediately see who's already inside instead of waiting for them to move. It also reveals cloaked enemies with footsteps now.

Best upgrades for Seer

Seer picks one upgrade at level 2 and another at level 3 each match. Here are your options.

At level 2, you choose between Lasting Beats, which keeps enemies highlighted for 5 seconds after they leave your ultimate, or Home Base, which drops your tactical cooldown to just 5 seconds while you're standing inside your ultimate.

At level 3, you choose between Energizing Focus, which regenerates 25 shields when you land your tactical on an enemy, or Split Focus, which gives you an extra tactical charge.

For most games, Home Base at level 2 and Split Focus at level 3 give you the most tactical uptime, which means more interrupts and more information. If you're taking a lot of poke damage, Energizing Focus at level 3 is a good swap for the sustain.

Where Seer stands in the meta

Time for honesty. Before this buff, Seer was the single least-picked legend in the game, sitting at just 0.4% across all ranks. Dead last. The reason isn't that he's bad, it's that he's hard to use and he leans heavily on teamwork.

The proof is in the split. In casual solo queue he struggles, but in the hands of skilled, coordinated players he posts a solid win rate, around 51% in top-level lobbies. Tier lists reflect that divide: some put him as high as A-tier and call him the best recon legend in the game, while others have him down in C-tier because his tactical is easy for good players to dodge and his ultimate doesn't stop modern aggressive pushes on its own.

The Split 2 buff is aimed right at those weak spots, so if it lands the way it reads, Seer could climb back into relevance.

How to play Seer

Here's how to get real value out of him.

His playstyle in one sentence

Seer is an aggressive information controller. He doesn't give you the big map-wide scans some recon legends do. Instead, he confirms exactly where enemies are, how hurt they are, and what they're doing, then your squad turns that into a push. His value peaks in the moment right before a fight starts.

Best situations for him

He's strongest in indoor and close-quarters fights, and he shines in organized ranked and competitive play where your team can act on his info. He's at his weakest in solo queue, in open terrain, and against enemies in the air.

Using Heart Seeker

Make aiming down sights a reflex. Do it when you enter a building, hold an angle, round a corner, or come out of a fight to check for third parties. Use it before risky moves like reviving a teammate. And since only you can see the heartbeats, call out what you find clearly, something like “one low enemy behind the right rock.”

Using your tactical

Pre-charge it by holding the button, so the delay is shorter when you release. Combine it with Heart Seeker to confirm a target through a wall, then fire. The single best use is interrupting: cancel an enemy's heal, battery, or revive right as it's about to finish, forcing them to fight low or get caught out. Don't waste it as a generic opening scan against alert, mobile enemies, because the delay lets them dodge. After the buff, though, it's much better at catching fast legends.

Using your ultimate

Exhibit is best used after a fight kicks off, or defensively. Drop it next to you when you're holding a building so you instantly spot anyone pushing in. In the final circles, use it to force enemies to either move slowly or get revealed, and to catch flankers and third parties. Place the device somewhere it's hard to shoot, like behind cover or on another floor, since it only has 125 HP.

Best weapons and loadout

Build for close to mid range so you can push the targets you reveal. A good setup is an SMG or a versatile AR paired with a shotgun or a Wingman. Skip sniper-only loadouts, since his kit caps out around 75 meters and rewards closing the gap.

Best teammates

Seer wants aggressive, mobile teammates who can act on his reveals fast: Octane, Pathfinder, Wraith, or Ash are all great. Bangalore is a fun pairing too, since Exhibit reveals enemies right through her smoke. Avoid pairing him with slow anchor legends who can't capitalize on his quick info. A solid trio is a mobility legend, Seer, and a support like Conduit or Lifeline.

Positioning and engagements

Take high ground when you can, since it gives you cleaner angles for Heart Seeker and your tactical, plus safer spots to throw your ultimate. Use cover while you aim or charge your tactical. Point your tactical zone at chokes and escape routes, and use Survey Beacons to plan your rotations into good terrain early.

Common mistakes to avoid

The big ones: throwing your tactical as a generic scan instead of saving it for an interrupt, tapping it instead of pre-charging, leaving your ultimate device out in the open, forgetting it doesn't reveal crouching or airborne enemies, not calling out the info only you can see, and trying to hard-carry solo queue with him.

Ranked tips

Seer rewards a stacked squad that talks. Use your tactical to deny resets in long ranked fights, and your ultimate to control endgame circles and avoid getting third-partied. His info helps you dodge bad fights as much as it helps you start good ones, so play for placement.

Counters to know

Seer gets countered by anything that breaks his information. Mirage's decoys feed him fake reads on both his passive and ultimate. Wraith disappears from him while she's in the void. Catalyst's Dark Veil blocks his heartbeat sensor. And anyone playing in the air, like Valkyrie, sits in his blind spot. Enemies can also just shoot down his ultimate device or crouch-walk through it.

On the flip side, Seer eats slow, grouped, healing-reliant teams alive, since his tactical cancels their heals and revives. He also counters stealth legends, and after the buff, he's much better against fast sliders and dashers.

Conclusion

Seer is a high-skill, high-reward recon legend, and the timing to pick him up is good. With the Season 29 Split 2 buff landing June 22, his two biggest weaknesses, a tactical that was easy to dodge and an ultimate that was slow to deliver, are both getting addressed.

He's not a pick-up-and-win legend, and he's rough in solo queue. But if you've got a squad that communicates and you enjoy outsmarting people with information, few legends are more satisfying. Lead with intel, interrupt their heals, and push together.
